Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate- Agdz- Drâa Valley - Zagora- Tamegroute- Tagounite
Pick up at the hotel where they are staying and start the trip to the Great South.
We will cross the High Atlas, which is the highest and most extensive mountain range in Morocco, crowned
by the top Tizi-N-Tichka to 2260 meters of altitude. This route is also known as the Route of the Pastures. Impressive mountain landscapes. We will stop at Ait-Ben-Haddou, and visit its Kasbah, one of the best preserved of all North Africa and declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
Movies like Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator or the Kingdom of Heaven, have been shot here.
Arrival in Ouarzazate and panoramic visit of the city, located on top of a large plateau, also known as Hollywood of the African continent.
We will continue our journey along the so-called Oasis route. We will cross Ait Saoun and its mountain pass of 1660 meters, Tizi-N-Tinififft, its orography evokes impressive lunar landscapes.
We continue through the Valley of the Drâa, 200 km of palm grove that make this route one of the most beautiful in Morocco. Formerly this valley was traveled by infinity of commercial carvans from Black Africa. We arrived at Zagora considered door of the desert as well as its poster "Tombouctu 52 days".
From Zagora we arrive at Tamegroute, an old religious center famous for its Koranic Library and its open-air pottery workshops.
Arrival in Tagounite, where you will receive us with a refreshing welcome tea. We will enjoy a typical Moroccan cuisine dinner. Let's sleep in our cozy Maison d'Hotes in Les Palmeraies.
Day 2. Wild Desert
In the morning we will have breakfast among palm trees, after breakfast we will pick up the 4x4 and we will head towards the Great Dunes of Erg Chegaga.
We pass through various hammadas or stony deserts where we can find some fragment of meteorite or fossil.
We will arrive at the Sacred Oasis, a succession of palm trees where a stream of water runs throughout the year and where the nomads take their flocks to water.
Possibly in our journey we find a family of nomads willing to chat and share a glass of tea.
After crossing several ouad, we arrive at Erg Chegaga, the sea of sand, dunes of 300 meters high and 40 km long, will not leave the traveler impassive. After lunch at the Chegaga camp, the camels will pick us up to explore the wildest side of the Sahara ... At dusk we will camp in the middle of nowhere.
Day 3. Wild Desert
In the morning, after contemplating the sunrise and a tasty breakfast, we will continue our journey in camel riding into the wildest area of the Sahara. We will camp in the middle of nowhere.
Day 4. Wild Desert - Camp Erg Chegaga
The next day after breakfast we will head back to Erg Chegaga, where we will stay at the camp. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 5. Erg Chegaga - Iriki- Foum Z Guid -Tazenakht - High Atlas - Marrakech
In the morning, and after catching a glimpse of the sunrise and breakfast between the dunes, we continue our journey to Marrakech.
We arrived at Foum Zguid, old military post. We continue to Tazenakht, important center of Ouzguda weave fabric, characteristic for its orange pattern. This track was an old section of the famous Paris-Dakar rally.
Throughout this area came numerous hunting parties with hawks that once practiced the Saudis, as indicated by some adobe ruins that still exist. We continue our way to Ouarzazate, to end the trip in Marrakech. End of our services.
